Why telepractice?

Alight Speech & Language Therapy was ahead of the game, providing and specializing in providing speech therapy via telepractice prior to the pandemic! You can be assured that you are getting services from an experienced telepractice provider. Audrey has been working exclusively via telepractice since 2016!

Why is telepractice so great?

  • Research shows that it is as effective as in-person therapy for most people.

  • You can receive services without risking your health

  • Accessing services from your own home means no need to travel to and from a clinic, have others come into your home, or even change out of pajamas.

  • You will have your own books, homework, and toys at hand to work with during the session, which promotes positive carryover of skills

We use a secure, specialized platform with live video, audio, and screen-sharing. We can see and talk to each other in real time, work on activities, play games, and work towards goals. Clients can log in from wherever they feel most comfortable.

All you need is a device (computer or tablet recommended) with stable internet access, a webcam, and a headset or microphone.

Is telepractice right for me?

Telepractice is perfect for:

  • People who live in areas with limited access to in-person speech therapy

  • Homeschoolers

  • People whose schools do not provide speech therapy services

  • Families who want to supplement their school speech therapy after school or during the summer

  • Private schools and Charter schools

  • Families living overseas who want speech or language therapy with an ASHA-certified SLP (availability varies by country, contact us for details)

  • Anyone who needs more flexibility in service delivery

Many children are able to sit at a computer and participate on their own, but some will need an adult to help them manipulate the computer and stay focused. I am experienced with working with a wide range of ages and keeping even very reluctant or active children engaged. An adult should be accessible in the home or therapy location to help in the case of technical difficulties.

Session times and activities are flexible and will be tailored to your child's individual attention level and needs. If you are interested in trying teletherapy but are concerned that your child may not thrive in this format, we can always schedule a consultation or trial session to explore the possibility.
